Are there Gala's we can go to?
The red carpet will be rolled out for the evening session. Food & hor d'oeuvres will be offered to our guest. A fully stocked cash bar will also be available also. Filmmaker exhibits, and marquee stations will be spread out throughout the main room for viewing. There will be an opening night Gala kick off Friday evening, a Saturday night networking Gala in close to the workshops and seminars, and finally a closing night awards cermony. Come explore current industry issues at workshops and discussions, get hands-on advice at mentor sessions, and enjoy Boston's unique brand of hospitality (and great food). It's also your chance to discover the best new independent films, and mingle with filmmakers, film lovers, studio executives, and journalists, with dozens of films and daytime panels!

Is there a dress code?
There will be press, photographers, and videographers present. We recommend dressing to the occassion.
But to answer your question! No, the dress is casual!

What will happen at the event?
This year, we have added some exciting new feature. You will have the opportunity to browse a weekend showcase displayed by new budding artist (such as paintings & sculptors etc), live music & bands, a fashion concert opening Gala, and more.
All in addition to the foundation of screening great films, meeting filmmakers, sitting thorough forums, workshops, and seminars. There will be awards equal to over $10k in Cash prizes, equipment,and software.
Take advantage of networking opportunities, and expo tables set up throughout the entire weekend.

I'm not a filmmaker.
Should I go?
Ruff Cutz is for everyone! You can come and listen to our guest speakers during the day sessions, or walk the red carpet for a night full of movies, exhibits, food, drinks, and fun.
All Ruff Cutz selected films will be given a separate screening.
We don't force you to watch anything you don't want to. Decide for yourself which films you'd like to watch beforehand. There's plenty of seating for socializing and mingling amongst Boston's most respected film industry professionals.

What is the schedule?
The conference 2008 will be broken up into several sessions over a 3 day period. Several key speakers will offer presentations (you can check the schedule page for posted updates and info). There will be an opening night Gala to kick off our weekend. There will be live music, a fashion concert, and great food.
At the end of each session there will be a short break, *food will also be provided before and during the day's events of the conference. At the end of all speaker presentations, there will be a full panel discussion (in a James Lipton/Bill Maher type setup for their studio audience). They will discuss the growth and development of independent film and field questions. Come explore current industry issues at workshops and discussions, get hands-on advice at mentor sessions.
Select winners will be awarded prizes and cash, production software, and endorsement in the form of the Ruff Cutz™ Certificate signed by the founders and the Judges which consist of established, successful and highly respected individuals in the film industry along with the Ruff Cutz Official Selection & Image Icon Audience Award. |
